Ivy League rivals Princeton and Cornell will face off in the first game at 4 p.m. This game is sure to have playoff implications when the Ivy's two traditional powers meet in a highly-charged atmosphere. Cornell brings back dynamic playmaker Rob Pannell for a fifth year to fuel its attack. A leading candidate for Player of the Year honors, Pannell missed the majority of the 2012 campaign due to injury. After falling in the NCAA first round last year, Princeton must replace the core of its highly-regarded defense. However, the Tigers rebuild around a promising midfield unit led by All-American Tom Schreiber.
The second game features current Big East, and future ACC, rivals Notre Dame vs. Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. The Irish will make their second appearance in the Big City Classic, having defeated St. John's to earn a 13-6 victory in the 2012 event. Notre Dame brings back a talented roster primed for a return trip to the final four and challenge for the program's first national title Syracuse faces a turning point in 2013 as the Orange close out Big East competition before moving on to the ACC. The Orange will feature a new-look attack as the offense looks to match a strong defensive unit led by All-American Brian Megill.
